APPLICATIONS:
Application for OU Characters:
Application for AU Characters:
QUICK QUESTIONS:
What is the difference between AU and OU?
An OU (Original Universe) character is strictly canon without any alterations. An AU (Alternate Universe) character comes from a player-created alternate reality.
What are the stipulations for applying for characters?
Why does the OU app only ask for a link to history?
OU characters do NOT require a player-created history section. You are free to link to a suitable overview of your canon, i.e. Wikipedia.
What about the histories for AU characters?
If your history is a CANON AU (like Marvel Ultimates), a link will also suffice.
Do I have to complete a full application for other characters if I'm already in the game?
Every new player must submit a full, complete app for their first character. Subsequent applications after that will ONLY consist of a 3rd person RP sample and how their AU differs from canon, if they are an AU character.
What goes into strengths and weaknesses? Eye lasers?
The strengths and weaknesses sections are for listing physical AND mental strengths and weaknesses. Please give us your characters' powers (if any). These sections should be at least 25-50 words each.
EMAIL ALL COMPLETED APPS TO POSTHUMANSMODSATGMAILDOTCOM.
Put your character's name and fandom (i.e. Tony Stark from Marvel (OU)) in the subject line.

- You cannot play both the AU and OU versions of any one character.
- There can only be one AU version of any given character.
- All AUs will be judged on an individual basis. They can be rejected for subject matter and feasibility. An AU character must still have the personality of their OU counterparts and be recognizable as such.

this is zippy, i am too lazy to swap accounts lol
How are characters from CANON universes like Marvel Ultimates and MA:A considered AU when the quick questions up there specify and OU is anything in a published canon, and the AU's are PLAYER CREATED.
Ultimate Marvel isn't player created, it's a published Marvel canon, so why do those characters count as AU just because they aren't part of the main 616 timeline?
The way it's explained on this page makes it sound like there can be as many canon versions of a character in game as exist in canon publications, plus one player created AU version - which is perfectly fine and I'm awesome with that, but it doesn't mesh with how characters are being labelled right now or with what I've been told from a mod about canon vs AU.
I am just... really lost and would appreciate some clarification on what is canon and what isn't and why certain canons are being favoured as 'original' over others currently. It's not making a lot of sense to me. :/
less lazy now

If we allowed player created AUs to have their own slot, this would give the Marvel U---and any other fandom with built-in AUs---an unfair advantage. There could feasibly be three of most Marvel characters, but a fandom that has no canon AUs would be limited to just two. To keep things fair, we decided to lump the two AU classifications together. Yes, this is a little annoying because sometimes people will app a canon AU before you have the chance to unleash your super awesome AU idea onto the internet, but RP is, as ever, first come first serve.

Thanks muchly for the clarification. I am fully un-confuzzled now. <3
(And K sorry I missed you on aim, I'm pretty sure I fell asleep in front of my computer mid-tag last night and probably left stuff running unchecked. ^^; )

What is the protocol for pulling a character from a particular point in their canon prior to the endpoint they're currently at? I'm thinking of apping John Constantine, but I'd like to muck about with him directly after the "Empathy is the Enemy" storyline.

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but are we allowed to recycle tags from threads for the prose sample? I have the worst writer's block for it and, at this point, would like to be lazy. lmfao. but I can just try to beat the block over its head if you prefer fresh samples.

Is there a general length I should shoot for in both third and first person? Also, is it possible to use a post from Dear Mun in the first-person sample, so long as it relates to the game or would it be better to just write a plausible post (not necessarily my intro post)?
If this was covered somewhere, then I'm obviously blind.

Does it matter if/where we declare the canon point?
no subject
Where you declare your canon point to be is up to you, but stick with it. There is a form and procedure for canon updating, if you choose to do so in the future.
